Only a study doctor can determine eligibility. The information below provides a general overview of who may or may not qualify for the ASTRA clinical study.

General Requirements

Only a study doctor can determine eligibility, but participants generally must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have corneal swelling caused by corneal endothelial dysfunction
  • Have had cataract surgery (with a specific type of lens)
  • Have eye measurements (vision and corneal thickness) within the study’s required range
  • Be able to lie face-down for about 3 hours
  • Be able to attend follow-up visits over 12 months

Who May Not Qualify

Participants may not qualify if they have:

General health conditions:

  • Serious or uncontrolled medical conditions
  • Active hepatitis B or HIV
  • Cancer treated within 12 months or not in remission for at least 6 months
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Inability or unwillingness to follow required birth control guidelines

Eye-related conditions:

  • Other eye diseases that significantly affect vision
  • Keratoconus or corneal thinning conditions
  • Corneal scarring not caused by endothelial dysfunction
  • Advanced or uncontrolled glaucoma
  • Prior corneal transplant or certain other eye surgeries
  • Diabetic eye disease or significant macular disease
  • Ocular herpes
  • High myopia
  • Recent use of prohibited medications
